I am passionate about supporting individuals in the neurodivergent and LGBTQIA2S+ communities, as well as anyone beginning their recovery journey from life's unique challenges. Whether you're navigating the effects of past trauma, relational or religious abuse, living with depression or anxiety, or healing from an eating disorder, my goal is to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and empowered to heal at your own pace. No matter where you are in your journey, I am here to walk alongside you with care, compassion, and unwavering support. You deserve to be celebrated for who you are, never just tolerated.
I understand that healing is deeply personal, and traditional diagnoses and therapeutic methods may not always be the right fit for everyone. That’s why I offer a personalized approach, tailored to your unique needs. Together, we will explore your individual path to healing, working as partners to find what truly resonates with you.
Hi! I’m Roxanne
Roxanne Lamb, MSW, LCSW
Hello and welcome! My name is Roxanne Lamb, and I am the CEO, psychotherapist, and clinical supervisor at Surviving to Thriving Therapy. I have a deep passion for social justice, building community, and dismantling systems of oppression, which led me to pursue a career in social work. Becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker has been a fulfilling path—one that combines my love for research, psychology, neurobiology, and human behavior with my desire to help people navigate and make sense of their lived experiences.
Despite being an outgoing, adventurous person who loves connecting with others, I also deeply value solitude and time alone to recharge. For much of my life, though, I felt like I didn’t quite fit in. I often felt like I was on a different wavelength, surrounded by people whose ways of thinking, feeling, and experiencing the world didn’t quite align with my own. I tried to adapt and meet societal expectations, but it always felt like something was missing. It wasn’t until I was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD later in life that everything began to make sense. Learning about these aspects of my neurodivergence brought me a profound sense of relief and freedom, though it also stirred up some grief, confusion, and frustration. Still, it marked the beginning of a challenging but ultimately empowering journey toward embracing who I truly am.
I now fully embrace all of my identities, and I can attest from personal experience that you have the answers within you, even if life has muddied them with societal pressures, trauma, or invalidating experiences. It is possible to heal, reclaim your power, and live authentically. I believe with all my heart that shame, loneliness, and hopelessness can end, and you can live the life you’ve always dreamed of—a life where you can truly belong, as your full, authentic self.
Because of my own lived experiences, I am especially passionate about supporting neurodivergent and queer individuals. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate the mental health system when it fails to understand or affirm who you are. I also deeply understand the pain of trauma recovery, disordered eating and body shame, and multigenerational trauma, and I’m here to help you process and heal from whatever unique challenges life has presented you.
My goal is to provide a space where you are seen, heard, and supported—where you can heal at your own pace, and feel empowered to thrive.
When I’m not working, I unwind by diving into a captivating book, getting lost in my creative writing, engaging in a fulfilling video game, releasing some energy with yoga or a boxing session, or enjoying a spiritual hike out in nature with my husky. I also love expressing my creativity through watercolor painting or getting my hands dirty while nurturing my garden. Socially, I enjoy attending book clubs and other introverted spaces, or laughing at some hilarious streams.
I’m here to walk with you on your journey from surviving to thriving. Let’s get started.
Why Surviving to Thriving Therapy?
At Surviving to Thriving Therapy LLC, I understand the unique challenges individuals face when navigating the mental health system. With both professional expertise and personal lived experience, I am aware of how we can be retraumatized within the very systems meant to support us. Survivors of abuse, trauma, and those facing systemic barriers often feel overlooked, dismissed, or invalidated. Seeking help is hard enough, and your journey shouldn’t be made more difficult by professionals who don’t fully grasp your internal experience.
Individuals who are neurodivergent or who identify as LGBTQIA2S+ deserve more than to simply find professionals with lived experience. You deserve an inclusive, empowering, and affirming therapeutic space that recognizes your identity, strengths, and unique challenges. Unfortunately, the mental health system often falls short in meeting these needs, and I am committed to changing that.
For those recovering from eating disorders, the system often lacks the understanding of body image, societal pressures, and the harmful impact of diet and wellness culture. Many recovery spaces fail to consider cultural backgrounds and personal experiences in the healing process. Similarly, for those dealing with persistent depression and anxiety, it’s common to feel misunderstood or as if you are letting others down. Sometimes, traditional therapeutic approaches miss the root causes of these conditions, especially when systemic oppression is not acknowledged.
I believe the mental health system can and must do better to serve those it was designed to help. My mission is to ensure that negative experiences are the exception, not the norm, and to help dismantle the barriers that prevent access to meaningful support. It’s not enough to just change the system; it’s about creating spaces where healing can truly happen.
Like the phoenix, you deserve the ability to rise from the ashes of your past, burning away old, unhelpful narratives to emerge renewed and empowered. I’m here to walk alongside you, providing unwavering support as you take each step toward the life you deserve—stronger, more authentic, and fully in control of your own journey.

How Surviving to Thriving Therapy Became a Reality
Naming this space Surviving to Thriving Therapy was both personal and intentional. This practice was born out of love, grief, and a commitment to honoring the life and legacy of my Uncle Eric — a man whose story continues to inspire my work every single day.
Eric was a deeply sophisticated, intelligent, and artistic soul. A gay man raised in a highly controlling religion, he endured personal trauma and systemic oppression while fighting courageously to live as his authentic self. Despite his resilience, the world around him often failed to provide the support he needed. He sought mental health care, but the resources available to him were insufficient, leaving him to carry much of his pain alone.
In the mid-1990s, Eric was diagnosed with AIDS far too late. Though he spent his final days in hospice care, the truth is, he passed not only from complications of the illness — but from the emotional and spiritual exhaustion that came with a lifetime of being unseen, unheard, and unsupported. In a way that is both tragic and deeply human, he gave up. And yet, even in his final chapter, he remained graceful, kind, and full of dignity.
Eric was buried in Salt Lake City, beside his soulmate, Terri. Many of his closest friends are still alive today, living rich and full lives — a bittersweet reminder of all that he could have continued to offer the world. It is a tragedy that his light is no longer with us, but he is not gone, and he will never be forgotten. His story lives on — honored and respected — through every life touched by this practice.
Surviving to Thriving Therapy exists as both a tribute and a call to action. Influenced by Eric’s journey and the spirit of the Silence = Death Project, this space is committed to advocating for inclusive, affirming, and trauma-informed care. Here, we believe in helping people not just survive, but truly thrive — because everyone deserves the freedom to live as their full, authentic selves.
